Biographical Information

Known for her contagious enthusiasm for all students regardless of their ability, Joan D'Agostino teaches chemistry and heads the science department at Mt. Desert Island High School. Determined to see that all students are well schooled in science, Dr. D'Agostino coordinates the science program for grades kindergarten through 12 and brings the world of science to her classroom. Recognized as an outstanding educator, Dr. D'Agostino was the Christa McAuliffe Fellow in 1989 -1990 and won a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science in 1988. Dr. D'Agostino was also a member of the gubernatorial commission of Maine's Common Core of Learning and has served on state committees to restructure math and science programs.
