Biographical Information
At Putnam City West High School in Oklahoma City, English teacher Dionne Liebl has fostered a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self- motivation. Appointed team leader of the school's Freshman Academy, Liebl has worked with colleagues to help incoming at-risk ninth-graders achieve dramatic improvements in academics, attendance and behavior. She frequently sends notes to parents highlighting students' insightful comments, active participation and positive attitudes, making parent-teacher communication a positive experience in which students feel appreciated for positive qualities often overlooked.
