She maintains high expectations for all of her students, delivers curriculum aligned with state standards in a motivating and engaging manner, and conducts weekly and monthly assessments to monitor student progress. Ms. Perdue often motivates students to participate in community service programs and extracurricular activities such as the Writing Club, Chess Club and academic competitions. As a result, her students participate in these activities more than any other class in the school. A true teacher leader, Ms. Perdue was named chair of her grade level and was selected as the intermediate lead teacher for the school, mentoring new teachers as they begin their careers. She has chaired numerous other groups as well, including the Central Math Competition Team, the Faculty Council and the Relay for Life Committee, in which she recruited teachers and students to raise money for cancer research. Ms. Perdue has truly been central to the school's continued success.
