Establishing clear goals and a vision for both students and staff, Principal Davis Eidahl has steered Evans Middle School on a path toward dramatic school improvement and scholastic success. Targeting specific improvement over a specific period of time, Mr. Eidahl has implemented practices and policies to help ensure that such improvement occurs-and it has. After just one year, 15 percent more students are scoring proficient in math, 11 percent more in reading. Mr. Eidahl's strategies for academic improvement demonstrate his expert knowledge of what helps teachers teach effectively and what helps students learn, from robust professional development opportunities for teachers to the inclusion of special education students in regular education classrooms, from targeting low achievers with enrichment electives to examining student data to drive instruction. Passionate about student learning and supportive of quality teachers, Mr. Eidahl truly represents the best in the education profession.
