Biographical Information
Glen Westbroek is a seventh- through ninth-grade science teacher and science department chair at Orem Junior High in Orem. Since 2006, he has served as Alpine District Science Specialist after school hours. As facilitator of Utah's Sci-ber Text project, Mr. Westbroek directs other teachers in writing an online textbook aligned to state and national standards. Previously, he taught at a private school for children with behavior disorders and learning disabilities. Mr. Westbroek was one of the school's lead teachers in applying the Co-NECT model, and under his direction, integrated classroom projects have received national recognition. He assisted in rewriting the Utah State Science Core to follow national science standards and has shown leadership in technology integration and technology training throughout his school, district and state. He mentors beginning teachers and is a frequent presenter at conferences. Mr. Westbroek earned his bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in 1984. In September 2005, he was named Alpine School District Teacher of the Year.
