Biographical Information

Camille Basoco now teaches English to tenth graders at Springbrook High School in Silver Springs. Previously, she taught English at the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts, a magnet school for the performing and applied arts. Basoco helped her students bring life to language, whether performing Shakespeare's plays or producing class publications. Basoco also taught a year long tutorial program on Saturdays for struggling students and chaired the school's summer academic assistance program. Thanks to her efforts, all of her students passed the state-mandated language arts tests, and the school boasted a 100 percent graduation rate. Basoco developed a new teacher support program and is active in new teacher recruitment, selection and development.
