Biographical Information
Jean Brassfield is currently the Director of Academic Support Services for Broken Arrow Public Schools. Prior to moving to the educational service center in 2010 Brassfield served 10 years as an elementary principal at Park Lane Elementary School in Broken Arrow. Brassfield quickly was awarded the OETT Grant which provided Park Lane students access to an on- campus television studio and a new computer lab. During her leadership a strong literacy program was implemented resulting in top elementary test scores for the district. Previously, she was principal of Pershing Elementary School in Muskogee, which she transformed into a model technology school, complete with an on-campus television studio that broadcast on a local station and a multimedia computer lab from which students could check out laptop computers. As a result, Pershing Elementary earned recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School and was one of four schools in the nation to receive a U.S. Department of Education Technology Award. Brassfield has instituted several innovative programs that address the whole child, including an early-morning breakfast program called "Rise and Shine" and the "Koalaty Kid" character education program.
