Biographical Information

The popularity of foreign languages at Foothill Middle School in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County, owes much to the innovative and charismatic skills of Spanish teacher Carol Sparks. Named Outstanding Teacher by the California Foreign Languages Teachers Association, Ms. Sparks employs all forms of media, including computers, in her classroom instruction. Incorporating various methods into her delivery, she believes it is important to experiment with new ideas, concepts and methods. Off-campus, she extends her students' comprehension of foreign culture by leading study trips to Spanish speaking countries, and she extends her own professional experience through active membership in various educational organizations.
