Biographical Information

Five years ago, Sarah Brown was presented with the challenge and responsibility of opening Summers Middle School in Hinton, the only middle school in Summers County. She fulfilled that challenge with a number of innovative programs sponsored by four $25,000 grants that she wrote for the school. The grants, entitled Students Mirroring Success (SMS), offered students a variety of before- and after-school programs, including homework helpers, drama, wellness, preparation for intramural competitions, and computer classes with parents. After serving as principal of the middle school for five years, Dr. Brown was selected by the Summers County Board of Education as director of curriculum and instruction for the county.
